Only that which matters should occupy your mind.
I love sharing nature with the people that matter most... a glimpse back to this summer in Scotland, with @rachellaurenelizabeth14).

Sometimes a change in perspective makes all the difference.
Always amazed by these mountains...

"Keep close to Nature's heart... and break clear away, once in awhile, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean."
Last week I lost a beautiful companion and best friend...
When you came home with us nearly ten years ago, a black and tan ball of fur, clumsily running around the yard after me, I could have never dreamt of the impact you would have on my life.
I'm sorry that we couldn't have done more to help you, and that the cancer aggressively took your life... I can't tell you what I would have given to be by your side, holding you in your last moments but I can say that my life is forever changed because of you. I'm beyond thankful for all the times we shared and all the memories I have of you.
You'll never leave my mind or my thoughts, Kira... you were the best dog I could have asked for and I'll miss you always.
One of my favorite places...taken last summer in Stanley! 🏻

Hemangiosarcoma: a word I may have heard before but one I've never fully cognized... one word from the vet and that all changed. A high probability points towards that cancer after finding a mass in her spleen and spots on her liver. That was two weeks ago... In the last two weeks I've cried, we've visited many vets, I've spent hours researching this cancer and possible treatment options, ordered Chinese herbs and supplements to help mitigate the bleeding, I've cooked her meals of chicken and elk and beef and liver and anything else I could get my hands on, we've walked multiple miles everyday through the snow (You would never know she's sick, and has been for some time... I could hardly keep up with her as she bounded through the knee deep powder!), and I slept on the ground beside her every night.
Yesterday was one of the hardest "see you soon's" I've ever experienced and, to top it off, she was in emergency surgery before I had landed at my destination. She's incredibly strong and resilient but right now she's fighting through post surgery and I feel terribly that I cannot be by her side.
I love this dog more than words can describe and am pulling for her to make it through these next few days without complications, and I'm crossing my fingers for the results to come back negative.
