Summer is the time for abundant harvest! It's the high season for buying produce, too, but we need to be more careful about spoilage because of the heat. Our Junior Chef Ambassador Skylar Sinow @ssinow has this handy reminder before tossing produce. Many items can be frozen, dehydrated/dried, canned/pickled, used for infusion, baked, cooked or made into soup or stew. What's your favourite way to save fruits and vegetables that are past their prime? #reducefoodwaste#learnsomethingnew#freshproduce
It's been a pleasure to share ideas on how to reduce food waste at the #JoyOfFeeding@ubcfarm. Kin's Junior Chef Ambassador @ssinow baked Apple Muffins made with Apple pulp from the juicer and Fruit Leather made with overripe fruits (mangoes, peaches, nectarines and strawberries). We also served refreshing infused water using the whole fruit (strawberries, apples and lemons).
Today is #EarthDay! It’s a good day to unplug and give some to Mother Earth. Whether you’re out planting trees, cleaning up your town or Googling ways to make your community a healthier place, make sure to do your part in protecting this planet that we all share.
We're thinking this local dry-aged beef from @meatme.co would be awesome paired with our #Marinara#pastasauce#knowwhatyouareeating#supportlocal #Repost@meatme.co ・・・
A new Heifer just went online. And did you know all our beef is dry-aged for 21 days? Not just the steaks, but everything incl. our ground beef. Cooking and eating this ground is just a whole new experience; much more flavour and way less watery. The perfect ingredient for a healthy Bolognese sauce and with just one 500g package you can feed 6 people. You can obviously add more, but eating healthy and sustainably doesn't have to be expensive this way. Full recipe by #topchefcanada@83tbird on our site. #honestmeat#eatlocal
