I wish I'd gotten better pictures in #PortArthur but I didn't want to be a disaster tourist. So many homes flooded and this small community is one of many devastated by #Harvey. They desperately need volunteers to help gut homes. #HarveyRelief#latergram
Great chance to serve those affected by Hurricane Harvey last weekend with a fantastic team!

This past weekend was really amazing, although I can't remember working this hard (physically) in a long time! We were able to come down to Port Arthur / Beaumont to help some of these affected families clean out their mold-filled-homes. It was really sad to see firsthand, but the people here were so kind and grateful. We finished our day at a local BBQ place, where a local man (in a low income area) paid for our entire meal, knowing we had been there working to help the community (it was close to $80). It was really neat of him and we were all touched by his gesture. It was a perfect way to end the day. Building relationships is at the foundation of why I do what I do! Knowing that you’ve touched someone and helped better their life makes everything (all the time, pain, and sacrifice) worthwhile. The same thing is true in Dallas with home building. I think that’s the thing I enjoy most about building homes – getting to build lasting relationships and taking care of people. I’m grateful for all of the gifts and talents God has given me and hope to continue using them to bless the lives of others.
