MOC's team got to join Volunteer Kelley at @JDCHospital! Kelley was a total rockstar with the patients and we couldn't be happier having her with us! #VolunteerWeek
#VolunteerWeek Volunteer Musician Ken Wenzel rocks the hospital halls in D.C. for local Veterans!
Have you ever been part of an impromptu jam session with patients or family in a hospital room?
Yes, on what used to be the [Walter Reed National Military Medical Center] Wounded Warrior floor. A soldier jammed with me on a signed Martin guitar given to him by John Mayer.
Today's Volunteer Week featured volunteer from Suzanne Arrabito holds the MOC mission close to her heart: "I lost my dad to cancer when I was 18 and I know firsthand how music helped to heal and inspire him–he never missed an opportunity to see me perform, even when he was sick. Also, as a music business professional for the last decade, it’s incredibly rewarding to be able to bring passions from my personal and professional lives together into one experience."
For #VolunteerWeek, we want to highlight some of the volunteers that make MOC possible, like Camille Cain Barnes from Dallas!
What is your story? What connects you with music and why do you volunteer with MOC?
Music can capture a feeling or recall a memory like nothing else can. It connects us to other people, other places and other times in life. I volunteer with MOC because I believe and have seen a song change the entire day for a patient. It's everything.
What makes MOC different from your other volunteer experiences?
MOC is different because it's personal. The musician is able to connect with the patient right where they are - in their bed in their hospital room - and bring them comfort and a smile.

"I believe in the healing power of music because it speaks in ways that words sometimes can't. Music can open up a heart and a mind sometimes more than the power of an army. It's power is beyond belief" - Thanks @ericpaslay for bringing that healing power to @alivehospice yesterday! #MOCMoments
