Photo by @michaelmelford / Black-browed albatross chick on Steeple Jason island in the Falklands. The chicks have a few weeks left until they will be on their own to fly to sea and make a living. After hatching, the chicks take 120 to 130 days to fledge. Juveniles will return to the colony after two to three years but only to practice courtship rituals, as they start breeding around the 10th year. These birds can live to be 70 years old! We have left South Georgia now, having encountered a storm, and are back in the Falklands for a few days.#photography#birds#albatross#nature#natgeoexpeditions@natgeocreative@thephotosociety
