Trump wants to gut the EPA budget and decimate its staff. This would have a devastating impact on public health and the climate.

On this day, three years after President Obama designated New Mexico's Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument on May 21, 2014, these lands are in peril. Following Trump's Executive Order to review over 20 years of national monument designations (more here: fw.to/Oz8TsNd), Organ Mountains-Desert Peak is one of the places Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke could recommend rolling back protections.
Symbolically adopt a #seaturtle this #EndangeredSpeciesDay! "I just want people to know that you don't have to have any special powers. You don't have to be a superman. You just have to be a human." - Louisiana environmental organizer Cherri Foytlin
We couldn't agree more.
The People's Power List is a celebration of these #grassroots of the environmental movement: ordinary people, working within their communities to defend the wonders of Earth; the type of people who have been the heartbeat of the Sierra Club, throughout our 125-year history. (: @schneider_studios)

After first-generation college student Bethany Lebewitz went back to school to get her degree, rock climbing became for her a tool to navigating difficult routes in all walks of her life. But when she began climbing, there weren't many other women of color in the gym.
She wondered: if this sport had helped her deal with these other issues—issues that many other people of color also have to deal with—shouldn't there be more diversity in rock climbing?
Lebewitz started the Instagram account @browngirlsclimb with that very question in mind. She spoke with @SierraMagazine about the philosophy behind it. Go to sc.org/browngirlsclimb to read more!
"A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine desert us; when trouble thickens around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts." ~ Washington Irving

Moments ago, the town residents of #Hanover, #NH, UNANIMOUSLY voted to establish a goal of transitioning to 100% #cleanenergy by 2050! Today's vote builds on Hanover’s growing investment in renewable energy. In 2014, Hanover was named the EPA’s first Green Power Community in New Hampshire. The town is currently at 22 percent renewable electricity through partnerships with Dartmouth College and other businesses and institutions and town residents.
