To the opening night of the exhibit for @amagcuratedby#AlessandroMichele during @artbasel Hong Kong, @tinaleung wore a jacket and skirt with leather ribbon and stripe details and pearl buttons, with a leopard print shoulder bag from #GucciSS17. The wall behind features the magazine cover image of the valley of Civita di Bagnoregio shot by @vanni74. The show, with a focus on intimate portraits by @petrafcollins is held at the Qube at PMQ until March 26, and is part of an exhibition trilogy taking place in Hong Kong, Beijing and Taipei to celebrate the magazine issue by the #Gucci creative director. #BlindForLove
@Gucci attempts humour with #ss17 campaign. Your thoughts? What and how of the campaign are now on cherrycross.com - in a nutshell, the brand launched its collection with high fashion memes, with a satirical undertone.
My thoughts? The brand is certainly leading the way in creativity and innovation, but fall a mile short in arriving at wits-ville. Nonetheless, #AlessandroMichele has pulled #Gucci out of the monotonous, emblem obsessed rut, and is now taking risks and experimenting. That alone deserves an applause, for what good is fashion if it doesn't create a stir, challenge norms or quintessentially devoid of fun?
On a separate note, had Gucci commissioned @leandramcohen of @manrepeller to design the campaign, it would have been a different story altogether. No one does fashion and satire like she does. Maybe next time? Here's to wishing and humour🥂
