I am a feminist, and a proud one. I am a feminist because I believe certain truths to be self-evident: Women are equal to men. We deserve equal pay for equal work. We have the right to move through the world as we choose, free from harassment or violence. We have the right to easy, affordable access to birth control and reproductive services. We have the right to make choices about our bodies, free from legislative oversight and evangelical doctrine. We have the right to respect.
As a feminist, I stand in solidarity with ALL women. This is why I reject the mainstream feminism that has historically ignored the needs of women of color, working-class women, queer women and transgender women. In order for our country to live up to its promise and democratic values, bigotry of all kinds must be rejected.
Earlier this month, we defeated the American Health Care Act, the worst bill for women's health in a generation. This victory was a powerful reminder that when we come together, our voices have the power to change the world. This is why we continue to show up, raise our voices, and refuse to be silenced.

Wow. I’m about to leave the Drive for Our Lives bus (and give back the keys to this Instagram account!), but I want to tell you how proud I am of every single one of you taking action to #ProtectOurCare.
Across the country, health care voters are stepping up—and they’re not waiting for the Republicans’ next attack on our care. They’re organizing right now. I’m proud to fight alongside all of you. Keep up the good work. —Kathleen
Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley has been so influential in this fight. Throughout her tenure as mayor, she has worked tirelessly to ensure that Daytonians know exactly how to get the care they need. And because of it, more people are covered today.
We're hosting a Facebook Live today to discuss what's next for the health care fight - and how you can get involved to #ProtectOurCare. Tune in. (Link in bio.) —Kathleen
We won an important battle in the fight for millions of Americans' health care, but our fight continues. We took steps today to #ProtectOurCare, sharing stories from doctors, nurses and Cincinnatians about what access to health care means to all of us. As Sec. Kathleen Sebelius said, "This isn't about politics or party, it's about people's lives."
