Does anyone even still watch this show? Probably not. I watched the newest season and guess what? I don't regret it. Season 2 was boring and it's only positive was B.D. Wong in his performance as Hugo Strange. I told myself I wouldn't come back but I did.
The Good Stuff:
- The characters: The show is very character-driven and the rogues gallery is vast. Corey Michael Smith as Edward Nygma/The Riddler is now my favorite villain on the show thanks to his great performance. Ben Mckenzie is also great as Jim Gordon and really carries the show well. I like so many characters on this show that it's easier to say which ones I don't like. Almost all of the characters are at least somewhat accurately portrayed. Entertainment ensues. - The Performances: The two main child actors are impressive (David Mazouz and Camren Bicondova as Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle). Just about the entire cast is able to pull off their characters competently. - The Esthetic: The series has an interesting vibe to it and really sells Gotham as a real city (disregarding the crazy plot)
The shitty stuff:
- The show has a unique take on every single character presented. However, it tries to impress the audience by referencing to parts of their characters that are more accurate to the comics and not as unique. This causes a jarring conflict between the old and the new. - Erin Richard's Character :FUCK THIS CHARACTER. Erin Richards plays Jim Gordon's ex wife and is basically a cheap imitation of Harley Quinn. One-dimensional and annoying as FUCK. SHE GETS SO MUCH SCREEN TIME. - The Writing isn't amazing. There are a lot of inconsistencies and plot holes that have to be forcefully ignored to properly enjoy the show.
In conclusion, Season 3 of Gotham is much more enjoyable than the last Season but not perfect. Best enjoyed by focusing on the great character portrayals.
