#womensequalityday2017 with March Forth was a big success! First we marched along the Eastern Prom, then ended the March at the Gazebo where the Woodshed Mystics were playing! What a great event! Our speakers Danielle Conway and Anne Gass reminded us of what we've fought for and about how there is still so much more work to do in the fight for equality for everyone. Thank you, March Forth! #mainewomenmarch#womensmarchmaine#mainewomen
Still reeling from an epic weekend with these amazing women partnering for #womensequalitybazaar at @canalstreetmarket to raise money for girl's education scholarships in Guatemala.
Thank you for celebrating Women's Equality Day with us!
Yesterday's time at the Women's Equality Day March in Durham got us out talking with so many Durham community members including children (who loved us for our books and Starbursts!), parents, other activists, a Mayoral candidate, and a county commissioner. It was so beautiful to see so many people interested in Women's Equality and in Social Justice Storytime. We plan to keep getting out there in the community and building relationships and learning from everyone we meet!

Women's Equality Day celebrates the anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment, which gave many women the right to vote for the first time in the U.S. But women of color, people with disabilities, currently and formerly incarcerated people, and people who speak English as a second language or not at all were routinely denied their right to vote even after the 19th Amendment was passed. Many still face barriers to voting today. Everyone should have the right to vote, no matter their political beliefs, and no matter their background. We're proud to work with organizations and people across the country who are engaged in voter education and civic engagement. #WomensEqualityDay2017#womensequality#votingrights
