Most people's first reaction on coming face to face with a giant Mola Mola or Sunfish is 'what IS that!!???' Sunfish are the heaviest of all the bony fish in the sea and we find them regularly on our ocean safaris around Cape Town. This one here was hanging out at the surface catching some sunrays and feeding on his favourite food - jellyfish! You can see the jelly in the bottom left hand corner of the pic. They are also known to eat small fish and huge amounts of plankton - with a kissing shaped mouth their teeth are fused together and they never completely close their mouth but rather suck their food in... remarkable, right? We love finding sunfish, they're so big, gentle and downright peculiar looking! @petermarshallphoto with @animal_ocean and @michellejchan
