I saw Jerry West on First Take the other day and they were asking him how does he manage to find success wherever he goes? He replied "It's not about me it's the people I work with". I was like "yea Jerry!". Then he went on further to mention that he's made some decisions where the criticism was enormous...and the ones that criticized him were the ones he tried to get to know best. He wants to know why the decision he made was bad. He said it gives him balance. He then went on to mention that he reads a lot and that Malcolm Gladwell wrote a book called Blink and that he is a "blink person". Well that was it for me! Lol I couldn't get to the book store fast enough. Like my sis says "I'm finna buy dat!! #jerrywest#thelogo#blink#malcolmgladwell#iamafan#criticism#creates#balance#read#mentors#losangeles#basketball#lakers#clippers#stillsuck#firsttake JS4U
Life is lived in layers ...
Images and thoughts as I drive around dropping my teens to music classes and clubs and taking a breath of fresh air amidst the forest in the afternoon with them...I am constantly fascinated by trees .. their stature, their beauty, how grand they are ... how much of life they can teach us!
Even in the season of death and destruction they display great beauty ... collectively and majestically ... artistically encouraging me to pause , and contemplate in life ... lived in layers ... seasons ... every experience, year that is lived and passes, every hurt, every pain, every joy and success, is written into the very core of the tree... and here we see it as it reveals its internals to the world ... exposed ... vulnerable and prepared for judgement ... but then... it has nothing to lose .. the life of preparation has been...its destination is just beginning ... what purpose was it grown for ... will the tree become a price of carved furniture , a beautiful ornate bowl, a simple cup that will hold pure wine... a log to warm a cold heart by the fire ... or a beam to add style to a house of someone's dreams ... whatever the tree was destined to be ... let it be exposed and celebrate every grain of life that has been layered and added to it ... for that is what makes it beautiful! .
