Check out our newest blog on Florence: Experience a true masterpiece (click our profile). Climbing Brunnelleschi's Dome
This is an adventure, with the skyline of Florence as the reward. 463 narrow, winding steps, where the darkness is pierced by blinding shafts of light through the narrow windows. Before reaching the top, the narrow ledge allows amazing views of the inner dome where the Last Judgement scenes painted by Vasari and Zuccaro are among the largest paintings on earth. This will rank as an unforgettable moment...not to be missed.
I needed some time to fully realize my Eclipse experience before attempting to put it into words, but I realize that what ever I share here, no matter how eloquently put, will always fall short. Because what I experienced is beyond words, as I'm sure many will say. However, I simultaneously feel the importance of sharing. So, humbly, here I go. (Although I will also disclaimer that this is just the tip of a huge iceberg.)
To sum it up: Experiencing the totality of the Eclipse is the most profoundly beautiful and deeply moving experience I have had in this life. The image of the Moon blocking out all but the corona of our Sun is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. The indigo Blue of the surrounding sky is indescribable. I do not say this lightly. I have been blessed with many breathtaking sights in my 32 years on this planet and this topped all of them. •
What added so much to the profound visual experience is the energy transfer that occurred, and the otherworldly light that played in the sky. Myself and others with me experienced full body shivers and goosebumps. The hush of the wilderness around us echoed as the temperature dropped. Bugs and birds did sing briefly, but the hush of the wind and the coolness of the air came through louder to me than anything else. For those two minutes, everything existed outside of time. And that is the blessing the totality gifts us. •
Being bathed in that bizarre light felt to me like a sort of baptism. I still cannot find the words. The best I can convey is something that was shared with me by my Guides on the travels home, "Seeds have been planted. Seeds have been activated. You are the sacred vessels. You are the sacred Seeds." This tells me that it will be an indeterminate amount of time to understand all that has taken place, but that even without the understanding the profound nature of what has happened and what continues to happen is not lost on us. Our true nature is Infinite. What a time to be alive!
