The Bread w Kombu Butter ($9) was an absolute delight!! Wasn't keen on ordering it because I thought the kombu (a type of Japanese kelp) would make a seawatery, fishy taste but it actually reminded me of truffle butter with a crunchier texture!! Super aromatic & just the RIGHT amount of salty! The warm slices of bread was AMAZING - a crispy crust with soft, fluffy insides The portion of butter given was pretty generous too! Despite the fact at this point of the night I looked absolutely shattered I wasn't gonna leave without a selfie in front of the media wall with my logo on it.
There were no words that came close as to how exciting it was to see my logo sprawled everywhere for the Fire & Ice Ball for Camp Quality last night! An amazing night raising money to continue helping keep the smiles on the little faces of those who fight the hard battle.
From the guys behind former establishment Five & Dime comes their new concept of an Asian BBQ Grill & Dessert Bar, @sgfatlulus On their food menu, they advocate #NoBurnNoTaste, which explains their selection of burnt dishes such as the Burnt Porn Corn ($12) above, a charcoal grilled serving of 5 corn stubs with smoked sour cream, oregano & lemonWhile I've always been apprehensive towards chàodà foods, the charredness gave it this fragrant smokiness that went super well with the tangy, slightly creamy sauce (Then again you're paying $2.40 per corn stub - you decide if it's worth it). Their burnt sugar snaps & peppers ($16) was flavourfully seasoned with a base of lemon sauce & basil and topped with grated goat cheese - delectably pungent, sufficiently salty and refreshingly sour, esp w the crispness of the sugar snaps Their full rack of spicy BBQ pork ribs ($29) was extremely tender and very well marinated w a blended sauce of chipotle, kechap manis, rice wine vinegar & goes even better with the lime juice. While I do recommend it bc it's yummy, nothing mindblowing here The Duh Meat Board ($30) though, was a delight to savour At first underwhelmed by it's small portion, it's actually pretty bang for buck - With beautifully cooked medium rare wagyu skirt cooked in thai fish sauce and iberico pork marinated in sambal. I couldn't decide which meat I preferred, but I think the pork won by a small margin bc I haven't tasted something so impressive - reminiscent of Japanese fatty char siew It was accompanied by char-grilled Kailan with a juicy stalk and crisp leaves that have the texture of being air-fried.
