“You might be thinking who is this Harry Potter girl? And what is she doing up on stage at the UN? It’s a good question and trust me I have been asking myself the same thing. I don’t know if I am qualified to be here. All I know is that I care about this problem. And I want to make it better.” #emmawatson#heforshe

I love this picture! Shared it on FB two years ago and I still firmly believe that women should be free to wear what they want without fear of persecution, rape, or marginalization. This also means if a woman wants to dress modestly, then so be it. It's that simple! #mybodymychoice#sawra#backtobasics#womenschoice#heforshe
No, the biggest threat to women would still be heart disease as it is the leading cause of death for both men and women. This is the kind of ridiculous feminist fear mongering that the previous post was referencing. As far as the diarrhea claim lol, it is globally a leading cause of death for children and young adults along with other communicable diseases.
Feminism. Just another word for Equality. Let me tell you a story about equality for women &the way they are perceived & treated. "Because what men fear most about going to prison is what women fear most about walking down the sidewalk alone at night"
Let that sink in for a minute.
Growing up my mother always use to warn me; Don't walk alone. Don't leave ur drink unattended. Don't be left alone/leave ur friend alone with a stranger. Call me when u get to ur car. Why?! At the time this was nothing more than an annoying lecture for me from a protective Greek parent, but now, I realise the reason our parents "warned" us was because they had a genuine fear that any girl could get raped.Harsh. Direct. But reality. Rape.Touchy subject for some. Why? People don't like talking about it because they feel ashamed. Why? Because victims of rape are made out to be at fault.Because most rape cases occur to females,by men. Who think it's ok to rape females if they are dressed in an "inviting way". FACT- Most rape cases start or end with "she was asking for it". TRUTH-you're a dirty, uneducated, waste-of-oxygen-shouldn't-be-allowed-to-reproduce pathetic pig!
Here are a few more truths & facts-Nobody asks to be raped. Nobody can dictate what any girl can & cannot wear. If it's 40 degrees out & I want to wear shorts & a singlet I CAN & before you get excited, that is not by any means an invitation for rape!
Back to my starting sentence- #Feminism. A quick google search will tell you that feminism is "the advocacy of women's rights on the ground of the equality of the sexes". Key word being equality.Women should not have to reconsider their wardrobe choices in fear of being raped or attracting the wrong attention. If a girl gets raped what she is wearing should not even be a topic of discussion nor should that be an excuse for such a disgusting act.
We should be supporting each other and fighting for the equality of the sexes. We should be teaching our children that women are people, and not objects. we should have influential role models in the public eye, like @emmawatson@annehathaway ¬ like Justin Bieber who said, & I quote "rape happens 4 a reason". #equality
According to popular belief, during penetrative sex, the hymen rips (the hymen or the ‘virgin knot’ is a membrane that partially covers the external vaginal opening) due to which the first time hurts and women bleed everywhere. This is a myth, much to Aunty’s chagrin. Let's set the record straight by getting into a little bit of biology here.

I think stereotypes sometimes make women forget that, but sharing and encouraging positive examples help to give little sparks of inspiration to pursue dreams. Sometimes the most important thing is to have that little push at the beginning to get started.'⠀
