Sending out some love to Mental Health Family Caregivers who are getting ready for work or already at work. Juggling both family and secular life is difficult enough, adding to your list of things to do with caregiving means very little time left if you don't carve some out for yourself.
More employers are changing the way they view and help caregivers but caregivers can also have an impact on the changes in the way we are assisted in our work places. Sharing information with employers, like the HR departments, is very easy you can go to HR and drop off information about caregiving or you can sign up for information for caregivers to be sent to your company attention of your Director or the generalist.
I find that many of us are natural advocates, even if we aren't sure what or who to call we fight for the care of our loved one with the nearest person. Advocating for ourselves is important and should be a priority as well.
Don't forget about you in this process. Take a mini break in your car or find a quiet space at work, plug into your favorite nature video, music, audio book, or Podcast. Do nothing but focus on you for moments and breaks throughout your day. It's in the best interest of your health.
Long term exposure to stress is really common for us caregivers and if we don't manage it we are bound to feel and experience the effects of it on ourselves. Tomorrow I'll be sharing how long stress effects us caregivers and manifests itself in our overall health.
May today bless you with whatever makes you successful. 🏾
Came back to work to find thank you notes ..made me very proud of what the Coast Guard accomplished. #houstonstrong

***Slight Update*** I haven’t given an update, due to the fact that things have been beyo stressful beyond closed doors. For the many questions, yes my family and I are still displaced from the storm. Many would never know the feeling of such unfortunate situation. But what also makes the situation worse is the fact that there are organizations such as #redcross DENYING such families like my own “for not being severely affected”, and #FEMA being one that we haven’t heard from in a meh. Well I’m sorry all we have left is the frame and structure of our entire home. But I’m not here to rant about any of it. I know that the GOD we serve is preparing a blessing that is beyond this pain. Just continue to pray for my family as we Gather The Pieces Back of Our Life. We are still trying to raise money to get this process moving. If possible please help out! Much love! #hurricaneharvey#houston#houstonflood#americanredcross#roadtorecovery#gofundme#anythinghelps
First design in our new Invade the Darkness line is live on our site! YOU BUY ONE, WE GIVE ONE. This month all of our giveaway shirts are going to families who lost everything in the Houston flooding. #GoodBeatsEvil
This box went out last week to the folks at Bethel Heavenly Hands Church in #Houston to distribute to those in need.
I was so happy to put these these former products to good use. The care package included over 50 tank tops and tees. I also included the last of my blank workout towels that are perfect for those with limited space.
I continue to think of ALL those affected by the recent hurricanes.
Scenes from a former life. My neighbor's (lover of art and classical music) front yard. I found a CD of Hungarian gypsy music and kept it because I'm a sentimental asshat. Thankfully his mind is not processing everything that he lost. #Harvey#life#loss#love#houstonflood
