Through CDBOCES' partnership with Fuel Education, our students can choose to take courses available through FuelEd’s Career Technical Education solution, Career Readiness Pathways. Students can enter one of four Career Clusters – business management and administration, health science, information technology, and manufacturing. Each pathway helps students learn skills and prepare for industry-recognized certification exams. Career Readiness Pathways also helps students complete career exploration, develop business skills and more.
There are two types of skills: Personal skills (soft skills) and technical skills (hard skills) and you need both types (in varying quantities) to do your job well.
Technical skills consist of the “knowledge and expertise you need to do your job. Examples of hard skills include computer programming, web design, typing, nursing …mathematics, legal and other quantifiable skills that are included in the requirements for a job (thebalance.com)." "Soft skills are the personal attributes, personality traits, inherent social cues, or communication abilities needed for success on the job (thebalanace.com." Soft skills are internal and affect the quality of your work and how you interact with coworkers. Included are such things as leadership, teamwork and cooperation, responsibility, problem solving, critical thinking, time management, neatness, punctuality, and all other unquantifiable skills.
Different jobs require different combinations of varying skills. What skills are needed for your job? Make sure you have the skills needed to do your job well and get along with colleagues. If you don't have the required skills, work on them to hone them so you can succeed in your job.

A brief glimpse of #CommunityConnect last weekend. It was a blast with this group, who worked hard all day, pushing through the rain and the heavy logs! We were able to support three local seniors AND have a good time! Many thanks to @sueallen11 for the photo! #AntFarm#PowerOfOneMightOfMany
Our newest class showed off some great study skills - last week they all became ServSafe certified and just finished taking the written portion of their first exam! #culinarytraining#nonprofit#jobskills
