There are many definitions of what makes a leader. I believe it comes down to personal power. Before you can lead other people, you have to lead yourself.
In order to lead yourself, you've got to know yourself.
You've got to know....your strengths, your blind spots, your goals and desired outcome.
Once you're clear on this I believe that you're creative and resourceful enough to make it happen.
One of the reasons I do what I do is because I want to support more conscious women with big hearts to step into their roles as leaders. This doesn't necessarily mean being a CEO or entrepreneur (though often the women I work with are driven to get to the top)
The face of leadership doesn't matter so much as the inner game of claiming your own personal power and the true impact you can make when you step into that version of yourself that influences the people around you to see love instead of fear.
If you want to know more about yourself, take the free career style quiz I created (link in the bio). It's a fun and easy way to get started.

A little under 3 months ago I had a dream. A dream to create an online space for millennial females just like me, to inspire and support each other on their journey to create a career they love And ultimately a life that they thrive in. Less than a month ago, I launched. This week, that online community is sitting at over 40 diversely talented, wonderful ladies! I am blown away. Thank you for your support, thank you for trusting me and thank you for allowing me to create this special place! My heart is overflowing with gratitude, and I promise to make this a place of refuge for you. A place where you can feel appreciated, loved and inspired to create a career you love x (ps if you aren't a member yet - please do join us! www.candiceclarkcollective.com) #createacareeryoulove#careergirlcollab
Lunch time hill training session. Focusing on my "weaknesses" and not just playing to my strengths. Another life/leadership lesson from running which we can apply every day.
We hear a lot about play to your strengths. And yes we should. This week I have been running Career Development workshops and coaching people to identify their strengths and align their aspirations to them. I have also been coaching them on being aware of their weaknesses and saying "ignore them at your peril" as they may derail you in the future.
I have been guilty both in running and work of focusing on what I am good at, and sometimes ignoring my weaknesses to my detriment. I believe in the strengths movement and aligning what you do to your strengths - you will obviously be motivated and perform better. But we can't always ignore our weaknesses or use this "strengths movement/focus" as an excuse not to focus on things we may find tough. If we truly want to get better we need to focus on both our strengths and our weaknesses.
When I did have time to think during my hill session, I realised how much I had in the past 5 years played to my strengths as a runner - and yes I have them - run long, flat, slow and steady - and I have used this as an excuse to avoid the tough stuff and my weaknesses. Every great coach will have you play to your strengths and they will encourage you to develop your weaknesses - hence every plan will have a mix of easy, hills, intervals and long runs so we are well rounded. So now I am Walking (running) the Talk and focusing on my weaknesses to get even better - Hills!
So while it may be easy to play to your strengths, don't forget that you can get EVEN BETTER if you also focus on your weaknesses.
I see so many quick fix diets and ads.
Get ripped in a week..
lose extra belly fat in 2 weeks..
Get a perfect body in ….. blah blah blah
sorry but it's just not gonna happen! Not like that anyway!
Gaining weight happens alot faster than losing weight, results that lasts will not happen fast! As for Fitness - getting ripped, it takes time, loads of time, if you want to be fit you need to accept that if exercise isnt a part of your life you will need to change, and that its REAL work. Starting, and then forming a HABIT. Everyday, working to create that habit and maintain the changes.
Accept that it's a way of life, a lifestyle which you will need to adapt to; it's a journey not a destination!
The good news is one day you WILL have the perfect body you long for!
But it might not be what you envision right now. When you start to accept the above - that it's a journey, not a destination, and you start seeing the changes happening inside and out, you’ll become more confident, you get stronger! And thats when you realize.... That your body IS perfect! Not because you have a perfect 6 pack or the leanest physique, but because IT'S YOURS! You’ll love it and show love by how you take care of it! No different than how you show love to your loved ones - your children, husband, siblings, parents, and friends, you show them love by how you treat them, and take care of them! And you know that while your family might not be perfect to everyone else it is perfect for you. Funny how we are born and grow up knowing we how to show love to the people we care about but we have such a hard time applying the same concept to ourselves and our bodies! Love your body, know that YOUR body IS perfect because it's yours, and show it the love it deserves every. single. day!
Cheers to our PERFECTLY IMPERFECT bodies! #lovetheskinyourin#bodyimage
