Good morning children! Today's lesson is on Jose Julio Sarria, the son of refugees and the FIRST openly gay person to run for office in the US. Yes you heard that right. Over 10 years before Harvey Milk, Jose Sarria AKA The Grand Mere AKA Absolute Empress I de San Francisco AKA The Widow Nortan ran for public office. His dreams of becoming a school teacher were dashed due to a conviction on a "morals charge" (aka wearing drag, being gay, etc) and decided to take matters into his own hands. Jose founded many gay rights and charity organizations and influenced electoral politics in San Francisco. Because of him the gay community is a more powerful voice in the Bay Area. We must remember that the gay rights movement stands on the shoulders of people who were labeled "criminals" and "illegal immigrants". We must be vigilant in remembering the queer and trans people of color that whose vibrant and powerful stories give us strength today. .

hello fellow sibs from other cribs
i've been quite inactive lately because it was the last week of term and i had sO MANY assignments and tests and in-class essays.
oh my god for my science test i'm in the advanced class so we have the australian curriculum test and the advanced test. for the curriculum one, the content was very similar to what we were told to study, so i went very well. but for the advanced, a third of the test was content that we covered oNCE in class and the stuff we revised heaps (aS A CLASS AND TOLD BY THE TEACHER) was only in one question >:(
anyway i counted my marks during the test and would've gotten a maximum of 11/30 which is so bad!
but i have two weeks of holidays now so it's all good :)
