It's my father-in-law's birthday today and he has the biggest sweet tooth of anyone I know but since we had cake last week for Father's Day I decided to change it up a bit this week and present to him some fresh baked, extra soft triple butterscotch cookies. My house currently smells like Autumn and when it's almost 100° outside it makes it feel like winter is just a breath away instead of like the sun is knocking at our front door, begging to be let inside.

This month was not only a struggle to refrain from food and water for 16.5 hours or more, but we had to observe our faith
in a political and social climate strewn with hatred where acts and threats of perceived anti-Muslim violence have increased by 44%. A true test of focusing on being our best and putting to test self-restraint. .
In the spirit of Islam for making space for accepting everyone as they are and meeting them where they are, I stand with my Muslim family, friends, neighbors, and community in solidarity.
When I'm not writing I'm baking and today's baking adventure is a from-scratch eclair cake. Creamy eclair cream between two layers of vanilla bean sponge cake topped with dark chocolate ganache and an assortment of eclairs.
