I picked up my first issue of NYLON magazine on a whim almost 10 years ago. Sixteen-year-old me wanted to shake up my Teen Vogue and Alternative Press reading list, and, while on line in CVS one afternoon, I noticed the magazine section near the cashiers. Scarlett Johansson, crouched down with a guitar in hand, and I made eye contact. Without thinking, I quickly grabbed the June/July 2008 issue of NYLON in time to pay for my other things, excited to give it a try.
Annie Clark met me at the door last night, gracing the cover of the last print issue of NYLON magazine. In the nine years I was subscriber to Nylon, there wasn't a time when my excitement dimmed at the thought of discovering new fashion brands, skincare products, indie movies, musicians, and the like showing up to my door every month. What new sort of denim, shoe or dress would resident Factory Girl @thedanistahl make her own? What indie films coming to IFC or the Sunshine Cinema should I check out? Who was Hollywood's newest It Girl, and was she relatable? What should I know about alien conventions and cults in the Midwest?
