My friend Tracey @vernontrace painted this. She calls it 'Help'. I believe her inspiration was the helplessness and torment relating to the terrible hurricanes pounding TX and Florida. I have a hard time taking my eyes off this mesmerizing image. I am transfixed on the shadows and highlights. I recall hearing art collectors saying they purchased a work because it "made them feel". This poinient image sure makes me feel. Tracey's figure beckons for help. But this image gave me a different emotional impression, that of strength... As if she's motioning and saying, "I'm here. I can help". I hope you feel something powerful and surprising while looking at this painting. Feeling... sure feels good, doesn't it!?! #painting#vernontrace#hurricaneirma#hurricaneharvey#help#helplessness#strength#powerfulimages
Don't think images matter? A picture can say a thousand words—and it only takes a fraction of the time to convey your message versus something written. More importantly, it’s been shown that people think in pictures. Powerful visuals go a long way. Sometimes, the image makes or breaks the deal when consumers are considering an online purchase.
Went to "Soul of a nation", art in the age of black power- Tate Modern, London.
Black USA art from 1963- 80s. Very powerful- some of it heartrending. Recommended image here by a black woman - afraid I didn't note her name. #blackart#artinlondon#powerfulimages
