Meet Wendy Killoran. Wendy will also be presenting during our Salish Sea Marine Trail Grand opening.
Wendy Killoran is a mother, retired teacher, photographer, writer, and expedition sea kayaker/adventurer. In the summer of 2016, she kayaked mainly solo around Vancouver Island, a journey of 1250 km. This journey was made on the tenth anniversary of her mainly solo sea kayak circumnavigation of Newfoundland. She enjoys sharing her adventures through writing, photography, and speaking. Her kayak journeys have taken her to Iceland, Greenland, Baja Mexico, all over Canada, the USA, Italy, Sweden, Denmark, and beyond. Through kayaking, she has learned about courage, living fearlessly, being more aware, and the profound sense of well-being that is achieved through being in nature, surrounded by beauty doing what one loves to do.
Southern resident killer whales are threatened by over-harvesting of their food (salmon), boat engine noise that affects their ability to communicate, and chemicals we’ve dumped into the ecosystem. You can help ensure their health and survival by investing in the Salish Sea Forever Campaign today! www.salishseaforever.org
