Today we flew from Malawi to South Africa and went over the Zambezi river, the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe, reminding us of our time in Zambia.
An incredible time when we were fortunate enough to meet his Excellency, Mr. Banda, the 4th President of Zambia who is such a strong supporter of promoting and protecting the beautiful wilderness of Zambia.
Also remembering that day when we visited @gamerangersinternational Special Anti-Poaching Unit (SAPU) in Kafue National Park, who all work with such a sense of cooperation and passion for conservation. GRI SAPU utilize military intelligence methods and tools for deployment and have a success rate of catching 1 poacher every 1.5 days! Great work from a team of 25 rangers covering an area of 15 million acres! They do great work utilizing intel to also infiltrate upper echelons of syndicate poaching rings.
GRI also have supplied the only fire fighting team for Kafue National Park. The ingenuity of these confiscated homemade rifles, using everything from rubber bands to bicycle chains, is impressive. @gamerangersinternational does great work with the communities and potential poachers to incentivise them to use their skills and resourcefulness for the good of conservation AND their communities. #turnbacktuesday#lookingbackatZambia#ectakesAfrica#ElephantCooperation#elephant#conservation#rangers#saynotoivory
