I was shown a girl in a very great shape - pretty much bodybuilding stage ready, claiming how great she has done without doing any cardio and by just reducing carb intake and lifting weights...
If that's true she must have been on some right drug cocktail or/and obviously doesn't have much understanding on what she does, mistakenly considering weight assisted cardio type training to be a resistance training.
Human biology does not allow to increase fat oxidation through resistance training alone. For that body needs to adapt in numerous ways such as increased mitochondrial density etc - those are primarily triggered through activation of AMPK, that occurs during cardio type training. It also is the opposite process to mTOR activation that occurs during resistance training - they both do not co-exist very well at the same time. Hence why combining resistance and cardio type of training in one session is so inefficient when compared to periodised training.
