Second image for the Clean Seas, photo competition. I hope you guys like it. All comments and share most appreciated :) Every day we become more and more accustomed to the witnessing of powerful yet harrowing images of animal suffering due the extreme plastic pollution our planet is facing.
I sometimes believe the extent of the bombardment of these images, may render us blaise’. To this purpose I decided to take a rather subtle, yet hopefully powerful approach to my image in this work.
I decided to place a human, a beautiful model, in the web of plastic pollution we are normally used to view animals in.
I did this in order for us to avoid any potential detachment from the image. This way, we may literally ‘walk ourselves in the shoes’ of environmental damage. Not as witnesses, but as victims.
I hope that by rendering the concept more tangible to human kind, more people will identify and be encouraged to stop their use of plastic materials and increase their effort in finding solutions to these issues.
And today an emotional pain rushes over through my body like that familiar feeling that creeps up when you're not looking. Let it be like yesterday when I was free, Let it'd be like how I was in the water floating away so blissfully... Photo by @thewildandtheinnocent
