Today I want to talk about how I've been made to feel over the years for not working.
I've been made to feel less than human and unworthy due to not working and enough is enough!
I'm a human being with real emotions and my worth is not based on your opinions of me anymore, this society we have grown up in where the expectations are so high for us all to be in super successful careers in our early 20s is just mind boggling to me.
I've tried to work, I've tried to go to college, I've done courses at home, so honestly it's not for lack of trying- I have been ill and I still am.
I'm sad that In this day and age there's still so much stigma surrounding people who don't work in the typical sense.
But let me tell you this, people with mental illness do work, we work fucking hard every day to hold on!
I work hard on staying alive, I work hard on my recovery, I work hard on smashing stigmas, I work hard on being open and voicing my opinions, I work hard on taking up more space, I work hard on having a voice, I work hard on myself for myself because I need to stay alive more than anything else.
I understand some people have no other choice but to work to keep their heads above water, I'm not at all invalidating that but what I am saying is STOP SHAMING PEOPLE WITH MENTAL ILLNESS/CHRONIC ILLNESS FOR BEING ON BENEFITS 🏼
Mental illness is real, it's so damn real, it's as real as any other illness out there so stop treating it like it's not!
You wouldn't shame someone for not working if they had a long term physical illness, so stop shaming people with long term mental illness!
This is not to say that mentally ill people don't want to work, believe me we do and we're working on it, just give us the space we need to get there.
Reassure the people you love and care for who have a mental illness that you're cheering them on, always.

I promised myself at the age of twelve... That I was going to make this a better place & I will follow through with my promise. .
The universe has gifted me many colourful life lessons that I now know it's time to unveil the truth & help shine the light on other people's life journeys. #inspire
More than skin deep... You can never run or hide from the TRUTH as it will always shine through & eventually catch up with you. #truth

So this is what happens almost 2months after the women's retreat. We gather again under the moonlight for a giggle and #girlgang (a boy may have snuck in but he became an honorary girlgang member) support of our retreat chef Tracy who is behind the yumminess of @elpocolocotruck
It is amazing the deep connections and friendships you make when you allow yourself the space to be totally #vulnerable to to witness another in their vulnerability. It makes the sweet times so much sweeter and the hard times easier because you KNOW you have that support behind you.
Go get yourself a girl gang (or join ours). 🏼 #gratitude
'Do these images make you happy about where we are in the world right now or do you feel as if you should be doing more for your community? No matter what you take from these images know that actions speak much louder than words, while not all of these images are negative they all should make you think.' univverse.org
After the boy had left, I was so worried tried to look around, perhaps he would still be somewhere closer, but the driver wouldn't let me as he was so concerned about his own charges and I had to be at my destination not later than 20minutes time, plus I saw a heavy traffic along the route I would travel.
Now, the point here is: it's Friday (every right thinking person should be able to think that the boy was supposed to be in the walls of a classroom, learning), but NO, he was in the streets of Ikeja, struggling to make ends meet, to be able to feed himself. And what annoyed me the most was that, amongst the boys, there was one whom I think was older than the rest threatening to do some untoward thing to the boy, if he failed to pay his royalty (dues), imagine, still collecting money from how much.
Now, we hear of loot by our AVARICIOUS POLITICAL BIGOTS almost everyday. Ain't this system of government of ours a failed one?
Whomever, is concerned need to do something about this... #Nigeria#vulnerable#nigeria#yemiosinbajo#presidentmuhammadubuhari #stopchildabuse#stopchildlabour
