Really fogging early, South Downs National Park. Taken a little while before sunrise one morning late last week. One of those lovely summer days that starts off looking like this and rapidly turns into blazing sunshine and clear blue skies. #southdowns#sussex#fog

Had a day off from the beach, so I went to another beach. Then I got hit by a wave or two, lost track of time and had to pick up a daughter from school covered in an unusual amount of seawater.
An early start at one of my favourite places on the #SouthDowns. This is the kind of May I could vote for.
Early morning light in Friston Forest. Taken last autumn but never printed at the time. I'm starting to get a new collection of work together for the gallery this summer and there's always one or two that I've overlooked along the way (and plenty of stuff that deserves to be forgotten too!). The beginning of a longish shortlist. #southdowns#sussex#friston#printing
I've found myself a new little playground. A scrappy little unnamed wood that seems to have been managed for a while then abandoned, leaving a very pleasing mixture of order and chaos and the potential to keep me happy for many a morning over the next few months. This was just a recce shot but it gives a bit of a sense of the place. Odd what makes you tick innit?
I stumbled (literally, this place is riddled with massive badger sets under the bluebells) into a surprisingly lovely little patch of woods this morning. The temperature before dawn was below zero but as the sun began to rise it lifted a little hint of mist off the ground and added a rather pleasing softness to the light. A most excellent way to start the day. #southdowns#sussex#bluebells
Fresh spring colours in the Sussex Weald beneath the South Downs. I know it happens every year but I still find it exciting to see the countryside come back to life after the emptiness of winter. #southdowns#sussex
Baize. The shapes and textures of the South Downs first thing this morning. Much colder than it looked! #southdowns#sussex
A lovely little bimble through the bluebells this morning. All a bit messy with dead bits of trees all over my favourite spot, but I guess that means it's time for a bit of exploring. #sussex#southdowns#bluebells
Some wonderfully crisp, clean light at sunrise today. This is the fabulously named 'loose bottom', just outside Brighton, one of my favourite locations at this time of year. It's a real playground of lines, shapes and colours that perfectly sums up the eastern end of the Downs for me. I was here just a couple of weeks ago and it was all rather blank and sparse (and still rather lovely), but what a difference a bit of sunshine makes! #brighton#southdowns#landscape#sussex
