I'm exhibiting a new collection of images from the last twelve months on the South Downs at my gallery (@brightonphotographygallery) from 22nd July, including this one from a foggy day near Devil's Dyke back in January. The exhibition will be on all the way through summer and I'll be in there myself most days, please come and say hello!
Last light on the South Downs near Brighton last night. I waited more than an hour for a break in the cloud. When it came it only lasted about a minute, which is a shame as it was rather lovely light for several of those seconds. This is about 1/20th of one of them. #southdowns#sussex#brighton

After one too many melty sweat box days, jumping in the sea in the rain feels amazing. #Brighton#seaswimming
This is the marker buoy at the back of the West Pier. Its been there loitering in the background of a fair few photos I've taken over the years (and ruined one or two with its red light bobbing around at night) but yesterday I got to pay it a visit. This is looking out to sea with the West Pier behind me, nothing but blue skies and mirror flat sea stretching off into the distance. Magic. #Brighton#westpier#buoy#seaswimming

Rear of the Pier. Amazingly calm in the sea this morning so I went for a swim round the West Pier. In all the many years I've lived here I've never seen it from this side before. #Brighton#westpier#i360#seaswimming
Really fogging early, South Downs National Park. Taken a little while before sunrise one morning late last week. One of those lovely summer days that starts off looking like this and rapidly turns into blazing sunshine and clear blue skies. #southdowns#sussex#fog

Had a day off from the beach, so I went to another beach. Then I got hit by a wave or two, lost track of time and had to pick up a daughter from school covered in an unusual amount of seawater.
An early start at one of my favourite places on the #SouthDowns. This is the kind of May I could vote for.
Early morning light in Friston Forest. Taken last autumn but never printed at the time. I'm starting to get a new collection of work together for the gallery this summer and there's always one or two that I've overlooked along the way (and plenty of stuff that deserves to be forgotten too!). The beginning of a longish shortlist. #southdowns#sussex#friston#printing
