Ordinary #chicago weekend with some extraordinary people!

Flying back to Chicago from NYC on my second day of work. I'm still in disbelief every time I look down and see this.
Excited to see what the next several months hold and to put in some real hard work!
#TBT to a while before my time. I love this picture of my dad so much.
My dad used to take quite a few drumming gigs when he was at Anderson University, playing for some of the Gaithers and for Sandi Patty. .
He gave me my first drum kit. I still play it today and am proud to say it was his before it was mine. And while he's given me some of the best drumming advice I've ever received over the years, that's hardly where his influence has stopped.
My dad is the person I respect most in the world. He has consistently been an incredible example of integrity and humility.
Every time I sit down at the kit, I try to make sure I'm grooving like him. But more importantly, I spend each day trying to be more like him. Maybe someday I'll come close!
Double fisting on Friday!!!
But really, one of the most rewarding experiences of my fitness journey has been seeing my family get healthy too. Tonight my brother and I went to Planet Fitness together and got to talk about our progress on the way back. He took this video when we realized the gym was so empty because it was a Friday night. Still a great way to spend the evening!
Also, long sleeves because it's a leg day. Arms don't count!
Dabbling with some fusion sound and metric modulation in practice time. Still learning, but having a great time with it!
"God's grandeur & man's, juxtaposed."
"This is one of my dad's favorite birds. Sometimes they'd land in our neighborhood lake and my dad would just watch them slowly and gently stride through the shallow water. He'd always comment on how beautiful they were, sometimes using terms like 'majestic' or other words that a young mind makes uniformly synonymous with 'pretty'. I didn't realize how much we become like our parents until the first time I saw one, commented on its aesthetic and turned to see my dad wasn't there with me. I haven't stopped making those comments and I haven't stopped thinking of my dad when I do. It was good to be home with him again and make those age old remarks together for the first time in a long time."
"I want to go baaack! Sprang break 2016!!! #sb2k16"
Vibrant colors & vibrant people. Glad I get to count these lovely ladies as friends.

I like mountains. I like water. I love 'em together. The NorthWest never disappoints when it comes to views.
This view is the only part of waking up before 6 that I deem worthy.
I like to call this one, "Highschool girls that just found out about photography" OR "Spring break was awesome with these dudes". #SprangBreak2012
