Photo by @shonephoto. The view from the Jungfraujoch Sphinx Observatory in #Switzerland is breathtaking. It's lofty location is dramatic and extremely exposed. These two photographs, taken from the viewing platform show the upper half of the Aletsch glacier, the largest glacier system in the #Alps along with the observatory itself, during a cloudless night sky full of stars. We're here in Switzerland as part of #NatGeoStudentExpeditions.
Iceland or the moon? We slogged up a black sand dune in fast winds to get to a grassy headland where puffins and great skuas flew. Ocean one side, Europe's largest ice cap, #Vatnajökull, on the other. This was lush farmland till volcanic ash erased it all a few generations back. The coral seas off the eastern coast of Borneo are inside the Coral Triangle, which is the most biodiverse underwater ecosystem in the world. With a population of over 350 million people living in the region, the reefs are threatened due to climate change and pollution.
