He said "If you want RESPECT from the No Side then respect must first be given to the No Side". We could not agree more!
We are very PRO Marriage Equality.
That does not mean we are ANTI-TRADITIONAL marriage.
Nor does it give us the right to denegrate or disrespect those whose view differs from our own.
Live and let live is what this debate is all about.
Lets those of us in the YES Camp practice what we preach and stop disrespecting those whose traditions and values differ from our own.
NB: That being said, like Prime Minister Turnbull said we deplore any kind of disrespect or denigration of any person due to sexual orientation, religion, race.
We are not saying that those that are in the No Camp and are vehemently opposed to homosexuality in any form should be heard.
The denigration and disrespect of any person is deplorable no matter the reason.
Those that are homo-phobic and spout hateful and hurtful messages (as in Melbourne overnight) certainly do not deserve to be heard.
Like Malcolm Turnbull said we prefer to focus on the respectful aspects of the debate and in so doing show respect to those who views are different from our own.
We do not believe that their views oppose ours per se, we simply say that they are different.
Our position in this debate is to embrace all differences.
